Renovations

On this page, you’ll find important details, dates, and notices throughout the renovation process. We will update the page with information as it becomes available.

We hope for renovations to begin soon!

We’re excited to announce that JTPL is undergoing much-needed renovations at both of our locations during 2026. These changes will include repairs to damaged roofing as well as safer circulation desks, updated patron bathrooms, new staff work areas and book drops, and a redesigned Jeffersonville Youth Services.

We expect renovations to take 6-8 months once they begin, but we do not have a hard start date yet as of December 2025. We will update this page as soon as plans are finalized!

Jeffersonville Youth Services is being remodeled to include hardwood floors, safer play areas, larger program spaces, and more

Update December, 2025: We are in the final planning stages of the renovation. What does this mean for our patrons?

Programs

Most adult programs will be held at our Clarksville location starting on January 1, 2026.
  • Jeffersonville’s program rooms will be used for staff work spaces and Youth Services’ needs throughout the renovations, so most programs from those rooms will be moved to Clarksville. If you’re unsure where a program is being held, these new locations can be seen on our online calendar and in our print calendar brochures available at either library location.
Crocheting Class and Let’s Talk Books will be held at off-site locations starting on January 1, 2026.
  • Crocheting Class will meet in The Community Center at 1406 Frederick Avenue, Jeffersonville.
  • Let’s Talk Books will meet in the Clark County Museum at 725 Michigan Avenue, Jeffersonville.
Jeffersonville Youth Services will have limited programming throughout 2026.
  • Because our Jeffersonville location’s Youth Services is having a complete makeover, staff will be occupied with packing and maintaining services during the year. There will still be events at Clarksville, and we encourage regular Jeffersonville patrons to visit.

Meeting Rooms

Jeffersonville program rooms will no longer be available for reservation starting on January 1, 2026.
  • Jeffersonville’s program rooms will be used for staff work spaces and Youth Services’ needs throughout the renovations. They will not be available for public booking. However, Jeffersonville study rooms will still be available.
Clarksville meeting rooms will have limited registration availability.
  • Library programs will be using Clarksville’s meeting rooms more heavily during renovations, which means there will be fewer times available for patron reservation.
  • If you or your organization would like to use a meeting room in Clarksville, please make sure to book the space as soon as possible. If you decide not to use a space you have previously booked, please cancel your reservation so that others may use the space.

Book Collections

As of December 2025, there are no changes to our book collections or to how you check out books at JTPL!
  • As construction begins, our book collections may move to new rooms or become temporarily unavailable. We’ll do everything we can to keep our books available, and we will update this page once we know dates and times for potential moves.

We recommend patrons follow our social media or return to this page for renovation updates. Large renovation changes or closures will be announced on our email newsletters as well.
