Local author David Kummer’s most recent novel, “The Band” just published in April 2025.

This month, we’re revisiting an interview with local author and Jeffersonville High School English teacher, David Kummer. He spoke to our library Director, David Seckman, about his writing style and process, his experience as a teacher, and much more in our Multimedia Studio.

Kummer is a bestselling author of small town mysteries, psychological thrillers, and more, although he says he doesn’t limit himself to a specific genre. “I think that makes the book better,” he told David. “Whatever you’re kinda looking for in a story, I try to give it to you. I try to keep it well rounded.”

His most popular series is “The House on the Hill,” a thrilling haunted house trilogy focused on the Woods family in a fictional small town of New Haven. The series is coming to a close on October 24 with “The Empty Room,” and it’s available for pre-order now!
