JTPL: Past, Present, Future

This is the eleventh edition of JTPL Stories: a series of interviews with library patrons, staff, and partners. Continue below to meet the faces of JTPL with our Outreach Coordinator, Aliya! Click Here to read the entire series.

December 17 is our 125th Anniversary! In celebration, this month’s JTPL Story is about JTPL itself. With the help of several of our librarians and former State Senator, Ron Grooms, I take a look at our library over the past 125 years.

We peak into JTPL’s past with librarian Diane Stepro, talk about recent projects and vision with library Director David Seckman, and look toward the future with librarian Monica Mitchell. I learned so much in this process, and I’m excited to share the project with our patrons!

You can watch the video on our directly on our website or on our YouTube at the link below. Don’t forget to leave a like and comment 😉

This post is the conclusion of the first year of JTPL Stories! Thank you for following along on this journey of getting to know our community just a little bit better.

I’m excited to say we have some great interviews and specials lined up for 2026 already. But we’re always looking to get to tell the stories of more patrons. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to tell their library or Southern Indiana story, you can email me at agentry@jefflibrary.org.

I want to especially thank Ron Grooms for his voice-over in this video. I also want to thank Diane, David, and Monica for their interviews and Diane and Bethany for their support throughout the filming and editing process.
